Did you know that less than 8% of materials are cycled back into the economy globally, leading to significant waste and emissions? As the first-choice partner to meet customers’ evolving needs for innovative paints, coatings and surface solutions, we must enable circularity for our customers. A circular economy refers to the reuse or repurposing of materials and products instead of creating new waste streams, resulting in reduced operating costs, expanded margins, and the ability to market sustainable advantages to move market share. To support this journey, recently more than 40 chemists gathered at our Coatings Innovation Center (CIC) to ideate around circularity. The result? More than 200 ideas that have the potential to elevate our competitive advantage and create new innovations that address customer needs. “Through this workshop, we challenged some of the top minds at CIC to think broadly about how we can incorporate more recycled material into our products, secure consistent supply of these materials and solve customer challenges,” said Anurag Raj, our sustainability business partner, Protective and Marine Coatings and Refinish. “The workshop was a lightbulb moment for many, who were able to see first-hand how our sustainable innovation efforts create value for our customers and create organic growth for PPG.” Reaching 44% of sales from sustainably advantaged products in 2023 is part of our commitment to being a sustainability industry leader. #Sustainability #Innovation #ProtectandBeautify #PPGproud
