Sticks & S.T.E.M.: Empowering Tomorrow’s STEM Leaders Through Hands-On Innovation

We are committed to helping build and empower the next generation of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) leaders. Through hands-on events like “Sticks and S.T.E.M.,” held today in partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins, we aim to help increase excitement around STEM fields for youth hockey fans. 

During the event held in our hometown headquarters community at PPG Paints Arena, youth learned how science plays a key role in the game of hockey. Our employee volunteers demonstrated innovative thermochromic coatings that coat NHL® official game pucks, which change from purple to white when a puck’s temperature is above freezing, signaling the need to change the game puck.

 Our employee volunteers also showed the students other technologies we offer customers, such as PPG AUDIOGAURD® acoustical coating for the interior of cars. Alongside our trusted partners, future-focused community programming helps fulfill our purpose to protect and beautify the world.
