Mustang GT3 Makes History: Ford and Multimatic Motorsports Dominate Rolex 24 at Daytona with First GT3 Victory

Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports have written a new chapter in motorsports history, celebrating their first global GT3 victory with the Mustang GT3 at the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona. The No. 65 Mustang GT3, driven by Dennis Olsen, Christopher Mies, and Frédéric Vervisch, claimed the top spot in the GTD Pro class after an intense battle on the iconic Daytona road course. This monumental win also marks Ford’s 20th Daytona victory since its debut in 1966 and its first Rolex 24 win since 2018.

Adding to the triumph, the No. 64 Mustang GT3 secured a podium finish, claiming third place with drivers Seb Priaulx, Mike Rockenfeller, and Austin Cindric. The back-to-back podiums are a testament to the hard work and innovation behind Ford’s return to dominance in endurance racing.

“This is a team win for everyone at Ford Motor Company, for our partners, and for fans of Mustang,” said Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance. “Moments like this make the long hours, hard work, and earlier disappointments worthwhile. Our first global win with the Mustang GT3 and our 20th for Ford in the 24 Hours of Daytona is a milestone. I am proud of this whole effort. Everyone gave their all.”

The Mustang GT3 program, which was announced just two years ago, has delivered extraordinary results in a short time. Its design and engineering efforts were led by Multimatic Motorsports, which turned Ford’s vision into a reality. Pascal Zurlinden, Executive Vice President of Multimatic Engineering & MSVO, shared the pride and dedication behind this achievement: “To be standing in Victory Lane today is proof that there is no substitute for hard work, whether at the race track, the race shop, or during long days and nights in the simulator. It is an honor to take a car as iconic as Mustang and turn it into a Daytona winner.”

Ford’s history at Daytona is legendary, with the Mustang first claiming victory in 1967. Since then, the brand has amassed 10 Mustang wins and 20 total victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona, making it a cornerstone of endurance racing excellence.

With this latest triumph, Ford Performance and Multimatic Motorsports have proven that the Mustang GT3 is a force to be reckoned with on the global stage, and the future of Ford in endurance racing looks brighter than ever.
